It seems to me your post kind of defeats the purpose of a public forum such as this, don’t you think?  If you have something of value to discuss, by all means share it with everyone on this forum.  That’s why we come here, isn’t it?

Nope, I came here to network with other RCAs. I don’t have to do that publicly. This forum has multiple methods for communicating, and I intend to use them as I see fit.

To be frank, I am not remotely interested in what many posters here think of the concerns RCAs have. Too many posters here have made it abundantly clear that they have no respect for RCAs and no interest in advocating on behalf of RCAs. And too many readers have stood silently by and allowed disparaging comments to become a culture. I have no doubt that any thread with serious intentions would be derailed by catty remarks and childish insults (see below). This public forum has been dismally absent in leadership and character and is not an appropriate space to have serious conversations about working conditions for RCAs.

I’m staring to feel left out… there’s a a “Leave Replacement” forum here on Rural Mail Talk, and now we got a “RCA Private Thread”…  Surprised

Where’s the “Regular Carrier” forum, and the “Regular Carrier Private Thread”???   Confused

We got so many different factions working at the PO… hard to keep track of them all…  Wink

Is there anything stopping you from making a Regular Carrier Private Thread?

I’m not sure really even what a “Private Thread” is… so that’s one thing… and then there’s no “Regular Carrier Forum” like there is a “Leave Replacement Forum”… so that’s sorta another thing…  Frown

I usually figure what I got to say on a public forum is okay to be shared with the public… so as BlameTheSub said above, this seems sorta counter-intuitive to me anyways…  Confused

But to each their own… whatever floats yer boat…  Wink

I can see the value in this, a conversation free of “when I was a sub” comments although valuable in some context, would be helpful.

A frank discussion about our pay, working conditions, and benefits would be nice. We have collective bargaining power. We should start planning on ways to harness it.

I do not discount that current regulars have valuable information to impart and that there are many many regulars who are allies in helping RCAs move towards a better working environment. Unfortunately, in this forum they have a tendency to be drowned out by the unhelpful and ubiquitous comments of certain louder, more prolific regulars who just can’t seem to pass up a thread without making a snarky comment.

As such, I think it’s important to create our own place where we can have serious discussions and weed out the constant noise from people who do not share our goals of a better working environment for all RCAs.

I would ask to join….but, I might be able to bid on a route in a month or three, or maybe it’ll be a year…or two… then what? banned?

Guess we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it. In the meantime, current RCAs need to be working together towards definable goals. This isn’t about regulars. And this isn’t about “back in the day.” It’s about RCAs now and next year and the year after that

I just have no idea how you think we can stand apart from the union/USPS/regulars?  Everyone works under the same ‘evaluation’ system, which is under construction (I hope).   What ‘definable goal’ could an RCA have/expect, besides to become a regular???

To state the obvious… last time I checked, I didn’t need your permission nor approval to post on a public forum either… so yes I do feel free to post or move along as I please or not please… without your permission…

I do think it’s comical at all of the suggestions of certain people about how we should just do this or that, post or not post, or quit our jobs, if we don’t fit the mold of what they think we should think, or say, or how we should act…  Surprised

Somewhat delusional to really think one has all of that power tho… Wink

Better pay. Leave-earning potential. Hazard pay for hazardous conditions. TSP contribution. Changeable schedules (PastOThirty had a really interesting idea on this in another thread on the forum).

And anything else we’d like to discuss. That’s the point of networking and talking to each other.

RCAs need to have definable goals besides making regular because- I hate to break it to you- our job outlook is not good and we ain’t all gonna have a pot of gold at the end of all this. Plenty of people are going to put in a decade or more with nothing to show for it at the end.

This is the reason we need to take the discussion private. DB is NOT an RCA, has no stake in this conversation, and yet posts over and over and over in this thread in an attempt to derail it. Unfortunately, this is the status quo here at rural mail talk. RCAs have no place to have a real discussion without some regular butting in with his inane need to make it all about him.

Seems you would like to control who does and does not have a right to post in a public forum… I for one am not willing to surrender that right just because we seem to have gained one new poster that has a BIG chip on their shoulder, and an axe to grind with Regular carriers…

Check some of the other posts (from other posters) and all of the thumbs down certain posters seem to be collecting to see if others might have this same conclusion as well…

I may not like what people post, but I don’t run around telling they are not allowed to post what they believe… 1st amendment… read it, believe it…  Wink

And I rest my case on the need for a private thread. I have started one, in addition to a google groups (which I am still working out the bugs on). PM me to be added to the conversation.
